Of awesome structures and the architects who designed them.
SOMETIMES we can’t help but be awed by what an architect can create, given a little space, some raw materials, and lots of creativity. Of course, it helps if clients have the moolah to back their quest for a dream building. But then again, the measure of an architect’s ingenuity is perhaps in how he or she can work around obstacles – even monetary in nature – to come up with something that elicits gasps of admiration.
And so the Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) Architectural Awards are back this year to recognise local architects who pursue excellence in design. The awards, which started in 1970, received a total of 96 submissions, down from 165 received the year before.
